Before you can enter the name of a person that helped you in the field, you must add it to your list of assistants first. To do that, click on Add/Change observers and make the changes you need. When you go back to the breeding evidence form, you can simply click the name of the people who were assisting you in that particular square and year.
On the species page, you can only enter visit numbers that have been defined on the Visits page (you must provide a month as a minimum for a visit to be valid, but the information on the effort is also most valuable). This means that you should always complete the effort section of the form, before entering the species data. If you are only reporting a casual observation, use 0 as your visit number.
No. The visit number should always refer to the FIRST atlassing visit on which you noted that species in your square. This is important so that we can estimate how much time it takes, on average, to find each species, and what proportion of species are likely to be recorded with various amounts of effort. Refer to your participant manual for more on this.
The most likely answer is that you did not provide a Breeding Evidence code for that species. Only records that have a BE code will be saved when you submit your data.
When you enter data for a given species, the program will check to determine whether this is a species for which you should provide additional information. This includes rare species at the Maritimes level († or ¤), rare species at the regional level (‡) as determined by the Regional Coordinator, colonial species (§) and species for which you reported finding a nest. Color comments may also indicate that a species was found during at least one point count, but that you haven't provided a breeding evidence for it.
